swimming

I put Blake in swim class cause I thought it would be good for him to learn to swim since my parents have a pool, plus this would be something that him and Ted could do together on Tuesdays, and me and him on Thursdays. But I soon learned . . . Blake behaves much better for Ted than he does for me???? Also - he had a hard time with swimming, maybe he is a little young yet? so I think we'll take a break on that and maybe try again in the fall. But he did have fun playing in the pool at the riverplex before class.

the dentist

Blake had his first dentist appintment, which he was very excited about (probably cause I talked it up and we bought a book about it and read it a ton) Then at home I had him practice opening his mouth - yes I'm a freak, but I saw on Jon and Kate where the kids freaked at the dentist and I didn't want to deal with that.
so this photo is so funny cause I think we overpracticed and all she was doing was showing Blake the instruments, but he kept his mouth open! She even told him, you don't have to keep your mouth open!

the evil popcorn

yeah - it looks so tasty doesn't it! However this popcorn ended up costing me$505! $5 for the actual purchase at Steamboat Days and the $500 is for the crown I will have to get since while I was eating it I actually cracked a tooth that already had a filling! I will never eat popcorn again!!!!!

Saturday evening we went to Pat's (Eva's Daddies) graduation party - he just received his Masters! Blake and Eva were inseperable all night and they were obsessed with watching the chickens. It was so funny to listen to them cause they kept talking about how sad the chickens were, I asked them why are they so sad, and they said 'cause they can't get out'. I love the way kids minds think!

Then Squeek, aka Eva's Grandpa, took us on a hayrack ride and check out Blake with his arm around Eva - so adorable! When I told him we were going to a party at Eva's he told me 'I love Eva'

better?

After a little editing on picassa, I think I like this image better, I just had a little too much light in the unedited version.

Saturday

So, on Saturday I took a more in-depth course on my digital slr camera and I think finally the info clicked (no pun intended - ha ha!). Unfortunately, I realized to take the photos I wanted, I needed to buy a different lens, the one I really wanted was going to be over $300 yikes! so I went with the cheapest alternative, still at $100 and got the lens that allows me to take these photos

Not sure if most people will notice a difference, but I do - it allows me to blur the background while my subject is clear. The only bad thing with that is it mainly for outdoors until I decide to fork out the money for the special flash I want. Could I have found a more expensive hobby!!! Even the new bag I want to hold all my gear is $160 . . . is Christmas coming soon?????
(the pics are of Blake, of coure, and Eva at the graduation party Sat night - more of those photos coming later)

my rockin men

Saturday night Ted's band played at the Owens' annual pigroast. It was a kid friendly even and so the kids got up 'on stage' with the band and Blake really felt like he was something. He shook the maracas and was sooo excited and talked about it the whole way home and the next day!
He already looks like a rock-star in his snow boats, that he had to wear in June!!, his swim trunks and cowboy boots, he's got style - lol!

Garage sale finds

Saturday morning went garage saling around my neighborhood and got this cool leather coat for Blake - ended up getting it for $3!, plus these snow boats for 50 cents (yes he wore them to the pigroast we went to that night, with his shorts - lol)

Then right before we went Ted mentioned that if we saw a bike carrier to let him know, and we found one brand new in the box, Ted talked them down to $25 and he already took Blake for a ride in it, can you tell Blake was so excited!!

so I don't end on a negative tone for the day, we went to the playground at the school near our house this afternoon. We took Brody and all the kids there loved him so he got lots of attention, this little boy walked him for a long time.

and here was me trying out my photog skills from the photo class I took - I'm not sure if they are helping or not - but I think these are cute!
so I'm going deep on you today . . . a comment was said to me implying that I was lazy cause I refused to work 100 hours a week at my job (I won't go into detail, but it was not by my boss) I informed this individual that I have a 3 year old that I refuse to give up my only time with him and do put in my 40 hours a week. But this whole thing has got me very revved up about the problem with society.
People's expectations are wacked! They wonder what is the problem with 'todays society' and wonder 'where are the parents?'. Well maybe they were being guilted into being in the office all the time.
so are women able to have careers and motherhood or is just one or the other???

You think this would send me over the edge as I had other issues with just wanting to stay home with Blake anyway, but I decided I really like getting a paycheck. maybe that makes me a bad person/mother whatever - hopefully I'll be over this by Monday and it won't come up again.

some funnies

One of the greatest thing about motherhood to me is experiencing life thru the eyes of your child, some things we as adults just take for granted in life and then when you see your childs reaction to seeing things for the first time - it's just awesome!

So a couple weeks ago when we were at the civic center Blake noticed the escalator, he was so amazed and was like 'Look, they are growing stairs!' that got a good laugh from everyone that was around us. He has been to the civic center a ton, but I guess that was the first time he paid attention to them - lol!

*****************************************************
One of the other things he loves is to have the window down in the car and he lays his head back and lets the wind blow his air, so the other day he was doing that and all of a sudden full out tears hysteria etc., I asked what happened, and he said 'he lost his shoe' I asked where and he pointed out the window, yes my child threw his shoe out the window on 474. He wanted me to go back and get it and I told him I couldn't. He was so upset by this there was no need to punish him, he cried the whole way home begging me to go get it and he tells everyone how he lost his shoe behind the car???

***************************************************
After playing with Nathans brother Adam there has been more talk about brothers, so Blake told my sister he was going to buy himself a brother - lol!, but then he spent a whole car ride arguing with me about how he does have a brother, he said Daddy was his brother and Brody was his sister!!!!

*****************************************************
Last story is from the past weekend when he stayed at my parents. one of my sayings is 'I'm freaking out' or 'someone is freaking me out' it's one of those things I say withought thinking about. Well Blake has his own room at my parents, but my mom keeps some of her clothes in his closet. She was in his room and took her clothes out and had them laid on his bed, Blake ran to my dad and said 'Grandpa - grandma is in my room and she is freaking me out!'

weekend pics

this was our first week of summer hours - so on my Friday afternoon off I went to a Luau playdate, it was perfect outside and the backyard was awesome!

then we went to Relay for Life at Limestone that night to hang with Julie for awhile, and had the best gyro from Haddads! Here is Blake eatin chips.

Saturday I woke up feeling soooo tired and like I was getting a cold or was having bad allergies. we had a wedding which I wasn't really looking forward to cause of me being sick and I was having one of those mom moments where I felt bad leaving my kid??? but I had a lot of fun so I was very glad for a night out with no kids, and had a blast dancing - which I hadn't done in forever! so these pics below are funny - prob only to me, but at our wedding almost five years ago Ted's band members decided to take a pic of all of the guys from the band, but one of the guys had left so they had Shane do a stand in and added Rusty's head to Shanes body, and it was so funny we decided to do another one, so it's Nootril Drop with 2 stand ins and then the girls decided we wanted a cool photo by the brickstoo. so many of my pics anymore are just Blake so it's fun to do have some non-Blake photos once in awhile.

Here we are back to Blake photos! This is his birthday present from my parents which he LOVES. so he spent his weekend riding his car around their yard, which is way more fun to him than being at a wedding anyway.

1 month

It took me exactly 1 month to read all of the twilight books! I just got done tonight and I remember that I started the first one the day we flew out to Florida which was May 2. What will I do with all of my time now - lol??? The books are awesome - I defnitly recommend them, but make sure to give yourself a month cause they are so addicting. and I got a new celebrity crush from it. Here is a pic of Edward with Bella. could he be more good looking!!!
